Why I Moved to Brisbane After Getting Married

Hi everyone, I’m Laura and I recently got hitched! As much as I love our home city Adelaide, my husband and I decided to move to Brisbane after the wedding for a fresh start and it has turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! I’m sharing here reasons why we fell in love with Brisbane at first sight!

  1. We’re walking on sunshine, almost all the time

Brisbane has an average of 7 hours of sunshine daily, with temperatures hitting 30 degrees C in the summer and dropping to just 21 degrees Celsius in winter. That’s more reasons to live in my fave sundresses and sunnies, and hit the beach with the significant other.

Tell me, what’s not to love about that?

  1. The farmers markets are the real deal

The hubby and I have made a pact to eat healthier and Brisbane has made it easier for us to do so. Weekend mornings are now spent making the rounds of farmers markets such as the George Street Farmers Market, Jan Powers Farmers Market, Boggo Road Sunday Markets, and Queens Street Market and shopping for freshest fruits and vegetables, artisan bread, brunch-perfect pies, crockery, and so much more.

  1. When it comes to houses, we’re getting more for what we’re paying for

We’ve done some research and have found that the price of a one-bedroom apartment in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth is enough to purchase a three-bedroom home in Brisbane, which would be awesome for us since we’re planning to start a family soon!

  1. The kids are in for an awesome time

Speaking of kids, Brisbane has a lot of green spaces and water parks they could run around and splash in. And whatever sport they’re into, they can play it here – Brisbane isn’t called the Ultimate Sports City for nothing. And let’s not forget – Sea World, Movie World, Dream World, and Wet & Wild are just an hour away from Brisbane. Even I’m excited to go for a visit!

  1. We got the best Brisbane removalists. Ever.

I was so busy with all the wedding preps that packing and moving arrangements were the least of my concerns. Luckily, I’ve found the very reliable Brisbane removalists online at: www.wridgways.com.au and they’ve made the move so painless and easy from start to finish – it felt like we were just moving from one Adelaide suburb to another!

  1. The schools are top notch

Brisbane is home to some of the best schools in Australia. I’m so happy that my (future) kids are going to get excellent education, from primary levels up until university!

  1. There’s art all around

Even if we’re married, we still go out on dates – artsy ones, most especially. We love exploring the Queensland Cultural Centre on South Bank, the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and Brisbane Powerhouse. There’s so much to see and watch, definitely.

Ready for your next big move as a couple? Brisbane is a wonderful  place to begin your journey as husband and wife and raise a family, creating a lot of milestones along the way. I think you’ll love it as much as we do. We hope to see you here!
